I would like to share with you a meditation of the light of Alef.
If you look at the shape of Alef it has two Yud’s and a Vav. There is an upper Yud, a lower Yud and a Vav that separates them.
The upper Yud represents the Shefa [divine abundance] of Hashem, within the lower Yud is the pure essence of creation, it is pure and good. The Vav represents the separation between the two.
One of the ideas of the Alef is to connect the upper Yud to the lower Yud.
When we say the letter Alef, the meditation would be to connect to our root within the lower Yud, and let the light of Hashem break through the Vav and then the upper Yud fills up the lower Yud with the light of the Eyn Sof.[Disclaimer: this is only one of the meditations and there is many many more]
Meditate on this over the course of this week. The meditation should take about one to two minutes. Ideally do this three times a day. A good time to practice the meditation is before you start praying Amida. Even if you do it for one minute i am sure you will have a totally different experience.
But it doesn’t have to be before prayer, you can do this meditation every spare moment you have during the day. Even if you do it for only a few seconds you will have the benefit of connecting to Hashem. And there is no doubt that this is the best usage you can do in any spare time that you have!
Do the meditation, and I would love to hear your feedback!
