What is Lag BaOmer?
During the Roman Empire, the Jewish people went through many sufferings. One of the biggest sufferings were the killing of the 24,000 students of Rabbi Akiva. It was a great Torah loss for that and the following generations. The first days of Sefirat HaOmer are days of mourn since the killing of the students of Rabbi Akiva. On Lag BaOmer (Iyar 18) we celebrate that the killing ceased.
Really the most popular reason why do we celebrate Lag BaOmer is due to the hilula (death anniversary) of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. The sages explain that the day of passing of a Tzadik marks the termination of a project, the achievement of perfection. This is the reason why we celebrate Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai’s life and the revelation he made to the world: The Zohar Hakadosh.
A Message from Rabbi Shepherd
Great Opportunity for Salvations
It is brought by our sages that there is a special spiritual abundance on the hilula of a tzadik, It is the custom to go to the Tzadik’s tomb and pray to Hashem on behalf of the tzadik for salvations. On Lag BaOmer is the hilula of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. He was one of the greatest rabbis of all of our history. He was a student of Rabbi Akiva and he had the merit to reveal to the world The Zohar HaKadosh. The Zohar is a masterpiece on Jewish Esoteric wisdom.
It is highly recommended to connect with the RASHBI on Lag BaOmer and pull abundance to our lives. There are many different ways to connect with a the spiritual abundance of the day; the most common and powerful is to go to the tomb and pray. Others light a candle and learn something related to what the tzadik did in his life.
Lag BaOmer is so powerful that a big celebration takes place all over the world. For starters, in Meron (at the tomb) people light huge bon fires and dance celebrating the end of a mourning period and the merit that we have as a generation to have access to the Zohar Hakadosh.
On your behalf
At King David Kabbalah we know that our students want to have the merit of praying at the RASHBI’S kever but not always is possible. That is why we are sending a tzadik, a student of the kabbalistic yeshiva to go to Meron and pray for all of what you need.
Praying at Meron on Lag BaOmer is a huge segula for any salvations and a tremendous opportunity to pull spiritual abundance into our lives.
